Pang Cup Oct 15th 2006
After the excitement of the Ryder Cup came the mother of all tournaments, more prestigious than winning the Open or getting
your hands on a green jacket; The Pang Cup!
The weeks leading up to it were tense, with members of the Pang family taking sneaky days off work to have a round of
golf or going down the driving range early in the morning and late at night. The handicap committee of Andy, Rich and Martin
decided the handicaps for each player and extended it all the way to 36 for some players (officially a ladies handicap).
Cumberwell Park was the chosen venue and Rob Pang had the honour of getting the tournament underway with a fine tee shot
down the fairway.
Rob, Martin and Sam were the first 3 ball off, followed by Wah Yee, Jimbo and Rich. The 4 ball of Anthony, Nick, Andy
and Stephen set off on the red course shortly after.
After almost 5 hours of some good and some bad golf, Jimbo finally prevailed with 29 points. Having tied with Nick, Jimbo
took the gong with a better score on the back 9.

Pang Cup 27th December 2005
The Pang Cup Challenge is open to all members of the Pang family regardless of ability or gender. First rule of the Pang Cup
is there are no rules! The rules of golf and etiquette go out the window. Examples include:-
* Talking while people take their shot
* Walking over the line of someone's putt
* Playing your shot when it's not your turn
* Constant sledging when the scores get tight
* Taunts of "touch of a rapist" if a putt is long
On a cold winter's morning the challengers for the Pang Cup entered Orchardleigh in Frome only to find it was frozen.
An alternative venue was hastily organised and we ignored the snow forecast and trundled off to Frome Golf Club.
The challengers were:-
Anthony Pang
Nick Pang
Richard Pang
Jimbo Pang
Rob Pang
Wah Yee Pang
Martin Pang
The first group consisted of Martin, Jimbo, Rob and Nick. The second group was Anthony, Rich and Wah Yee. It was considered
wise to put Rob in with the first group as there was a danger that darkness and subzero temperatures would set in before the
last group would get round.
It was a match of high drama and intensity. Who would prevail to lift the Pang Cup? Honour and pride was at stake and
no-one wanted the humiliation of being the loser. After all it is a well known fact that the Pangs never let things lie and
stories will live on for generations.
It was a close run contest, but a clear winner by 3 shots was Anthony. The wooden spoon goes to Wah Yee who despite taking
lessons was soundly beaten into last place by Rob. Rob even had the handicap of losing the head of his 3 iron on the first
tee.
